St Nicholas Early Education Kotara South — Opening Early 2025

Opening in early 2025, St Nicholas Early Education Kotara South is a 79-place early education and care centre co-located with St James’ Primary School.

About St Nicholas Early Education

At St Nicholas Early Education, we believe passionately in supporting and partnering with families to nurture and inspire children aged 0-5 to develop the skills they need to thrive. We do this through the delivery of child-led, play-based education and care in contemporary learning environments where every child is supported in their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Partnership with St James’ Primary School

St Nicholas Early Education Kotara South offers a unique co-located facility designed to streamline drop-off and pick-up for parents and carers with children attending both the early education centre and St James’. This model ensures convenience while facilitating a smooth transition for preschool children preparing for formal schooling.

Central to the centre’s offerings is its Transition to School program, tailored to equip preschoolers with the necessary skills and confidence for their educational journey ahead. By fostering collaboration and partnership between early education and primary school settings, St Nicholas Early Education Kotara South aims to provide a seamless experience for children and families.

The co-location model also enables a range of collaborative initiatives, including community visits and interactive learning experiences for preschool attendees.

Environments

The centre’s indoor and outdoor learning environments have been thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration and creativity, with natural elements incorporated to inspire a sense of wonder and connection with the environment. The centre will be powered by 100% renewable energy, reflecting St Nicholas’ commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

With a focus on fostering inclusivity and supporting each child’s unique developmental journey, the centre ensures a nurturing and stimulating environment conducive to learning and growth.

Curriculum

St Nicholas Early Education is committed to the development and implementation of a curriculum that is:

  • based on reflective practice, critical analysis and planning
  • is consistent with the National Learning Frameworks
  • provides opportunities for children to learn through play and build relationships
  • reflects and promotes equitable and inclusive behaviours; and
  • involves families.
Philosophy

St Nicholas Early Education operates to enrich the education, development and wellbeing of children enrolled in its services alongside our cherished families.

As a community-focused organisation, we weave in the cultural traditions and practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our learning programs and through community engagement programs, our little learners can hone their societal roles.

Our educational programs are delivered in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where we champion child-led learning, an approach that enables children to feel a sense of belonging as they explore, reflect and discover. Each child can therefore be an active agent in their learning, recognising their milestones as they forge their way through their early years.

For families seeking a comprehensive early education experience, St Nicholas Early Education Kotara South will provide a place where every child’s potential is realised, and futures are shaped with care and purpose.
