Creating a Worm Farm
The students at Abermain OOSH collaborated on constructing a worm farm and vegetable garden. With added assistance, they constructed garden beds, enriched them with nutrient-rich soil, and created an ideal environment for both worms and seeds to flourish.
Beginning with snow peas, silver beet, carrots, and rocket seeds, their aim is to utilize the harvest in their meals, fostering a circular sustainable economy where food scraps nourish the worms.
From this, our learners are gaining hands-on experience with gardening and sustainability and fostering a deeper understanding of where our food comes from and the importance of reducing waste.
Gymnastics and ‘Paint & Sip’
Charlestown OOSH flipped, skipped and rolled their way into Vacation Care with a Gymnastics Incursion. They were guided through a series of exercises and learnt about the importance of their physical well-being.
They returned for a day of ‘Paint & Sip’, sipping on refreshing fruity beverages, they immersed themselves in a sunset painting class, discovering the nuances of dark and light colors, as well as foreground and background elements.
Our learners, have been able to experience a wholistic two days of learning and development in a fun way that allows them to test their skills and broaden their knowledge
Unveiling the Mysteries of Prehistoric Realms
Denman OOSH embarked on an extraordinary journey into a mythical prehistoric realm teeming with fantastical creatures and colossal insects!
At the Hunter Valley Gardens Mega Creatures Exhibition, they encountered captivating displays and immersive settings that vividly depicted the wonders of our prehistoric world.
This mega experience ignited curiosity among our learners, prompting them to delve deeper into the diverse realms of wildlife and habitats. Stretching their scientific understanding, exploring concepts such as conservation, evolution, and beyond
Gravity-Defying Fun
East Maitland OOSH soared through the air at Gravity X trampoline park testing their skills and challenging the laws of gravity throughout the adventure park.
Trampolining provides a plethora of benefits for young children as it is an enjoyable form of exercise and recreation that supports the development of their physical fitness, motor skills, social interactions, focus and more.
The Balancing Man Workshop
Glendale OOSH had a visit from The Balancing Man who brought his extraordinary skills in balancing plates, batons, blocks and more. As part of the workshop, our learners had a go at his challenges, putting their balancing skills to the test.
Putting time to support children in developing and progressing their balancing skills enables children to strengthen their spatial awareness, confidence, brain development, emotional regulation, social skills and much more.
Blocklers Bonanza
There was brick-loads of Blocklers fun at Gloucester OOSH recently with a team effort to tackle some challenging blockler building tasks. Our learners even created a zip line to send down their Blockler creations.
Building activities like these, offer children a range of opportunities to continue progressing their fine motor skills, spatial awareness, STEM learning, critical thinking and more.
