Turning the page on Children’s Book Week 2025

Children’s Book Week isn’t just about creative dress-ups; it is a moment to celebrate storytelling in all its forms.

Book Week 1 4

St Nicholas Early Education was filled with wonder for Children’s Book Week 2025 as our learners and educators brought characters and stories to life in celebration of children’s literature. Amongst the creativity and innovative spirit shared across our centres, engaging in Children’s Book Week brings literacy learning into focus.

  • Fostering a love of reading in the early years – in creating memorable experiences around books through dress-up, listening to someone read and bringing stories to life through play, Children’s Book Week offers positive associations with literature empowering children to grow their love of reading that forms the foundation for learning, creativity and emotional development.
  • Supporting language and literacy development – Children’s Book Week naturally supports early literacy skills like vocabulary, phonetic awareness and comprehension through engagement with literature. In sharing story time, children can explore expressive language as they discuss stories, characters and their own imaginative concepts.
  • Nurturing imagination, empathy and connection – Books open doors to new worlds, perspectives and feelings. Engaging in stories allows children to understand others, explore big feelings and imagine worlds beyond their everyday experiences. Children’s Book Week amplifies these learning moments by fostering shared engagement and social connection.

Literacy Learning in action

Inspired by the 2025 theme, ‘Book an adventure’, St Nicholas Early Education’s educators encapsulated the whimsical elements to bring a selection of stories to life. With learning echoing children’s interests and story favourites, educators provided children with the space to create their own literacy adventures through play.

Bringing characters to life

Our teams and learners brought stories to life with vibrant, imaginative costumes throughout Children’s Book Week, turning our learning spaces into magical worlds of wonder. A heartfelt thank you to our families for helping make the celebration so special – your support helped spark joy, creativity, and a love of reading in every corner!
