Turning Pages into Hands-On Learning Moments

Across St Nicholas Early Education, our centres came alive with the magic of Children’s Book Week.

Throughout the celebration, children and educators brought their favourite stories and characters to life, with each day introducing a new theme and focus inspired by beloved books.

This year, our teams transformed stories into engaging, hands-on experiences, creating immersive learning environments for children and families to explore. Through carefully planned activities inspired by children’s literature, educators embedded meaningful learning opportunities into everyday play.

From feeding The Very Hungry Caterpillar and recreating story scenes through sensory play, to exploring music, movement and creative arts inspired by favourite books, children were encouraged to actively engage with the stories they love. These interactive experiences supported literacy development, creativity, problem-solving and social connection, while allowing children to explore their interests and build on their individual growth and development.

By bringing books beyond the page, our educators fostered curiosity, imagination and a lifelong love of learning, helping children see that every story can become an adventure of discovery.
