This year, St Nicholas celebrates 10 years of growing together with the children, families, educators and communities who have shaped our story.

In 2016, St Nicholas opened its first Early Education centres in Newcastle West and Singleton. These centres marked the beginning of a new approach to supporting children and families through safe, high-quality and values-led education and care.

A decade later, St Nicholas has grown into a trusted provider of Early Education, OOSH and Pathways programs across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

To celebrate this milestone, we have created a special 10-year anniversary eBook that looks back at where we began, recognises the people and communities behind our growth, and considers where we are headed next.

Ten years of growing together

Over the past decade, St Nicholas has:

  • Supported more than 16,500 children
  • Welcomed more than 12,500 families
  • Delivered 8.3 million care sessions
  • Employed 2,200 educators
  • Grown to include 14 Early Education centres and 30 OOSH services, alongside our Pathways programs

These figures tell only part of the story.

Behind every milestone is a child who felt safe and supported, a family who placed their trust in us, an educator who made a difference and a community strengthened through connection.

Our anniversary eBook brings these stories and milestones together, reflecting on the growth of St Nicholas while recognising the purpose that has remained at the heart of our work from the beginning.

Celebrating everyone who has been part of our story

Our first decade would not have been possible without the children, families, educators, service leaders, Catholic Schools, parishes and community partners who have grown alongside us.

Whether you have been part of St Nicholas since the earliest days or joined us more recently, you are part of this story.

As we enter our next decade, we remain committed to creating places where children feel known, valued and supported to thrive. We will continue to invest in our people, strengthen our services and respond to the changing needs of families and communities.

We invite you to explore the story of our first 10 years and celebrate the people who made it possible.
