Recently, we had the privilege of commemorating ANZAC Day with our learners, engaging them in activities that not only honoured the historical significance of this day but also imparted invaluable lessons in remembrance and gratitude. Through creating wreaths and learning about the profound history associated with ANZAC Day, our learners embarked on a journey of understanding that will shape their perspectives and values for years to come.
Marching in commemoration
Our St Nicholas Early Education Branxton community came together to commemorate ANZAC Day, taking part in their local ANZAC Day Service, marching alongside their community and laying their hand-made wreath.
We couldn’t be prouder of our Branxton community for forging community connections and being responsible and informed citizens.
Enriching learners’ historical knowledge
St Nicholas Early Education Gillieston Heights worked together to create a beautiful ANZAC Wreath that was laid at the Maitland Park Cenotaph during the annual ANZAC Service.
Whilst our learners crafted their wreath, our educators sparked conversations about the symbolism and meaning behind ANZAC Day to help our learners develop a deeper understanding of these significant historical events.
In doing so, they can build on their understanding and embrace the concepts of remembrance, sacrifice and gratitude. In engaging with these events, they are supported in building foundational skills in being a responsible citizen and creating a lifelong commitment to honouring others and advocating for peace.
To further enrich their understanding and perspectives, they welcomed Ricky from the Air Force who brought an insightful discussion around these concepts and shared a story time with the children.
We are so proud of our Gillieston Heights community and to Ricky, for creating this beautiful wreath and helping our young learners forge community-focused connections.
Honouring our service personnel
St Nicholas Early Education Raymond Terrace held an ANZAC Ceremony coming together with each other and families to learn about ANZAC Day and honour all of our service personnel. They were joined by a current serving parent who spoke to the attendees about her role and what ANZAC Day means to her.
Our learners and team created a beautiful memorial and laid flowers to show their respect and appreciation for all.
