This time of the year is always full of career expos and information sessions for us. It brings a lot of reflection, as we talk to young adults about the choices that they are considering about their futures. It gives us opportunity to invite possible future educators to consider a career working with young children either in Early Education or OOSH, promote the early childhood profession and develop people’s understandings of the professionalism of the sector itself. Hearing the stories of the students, their lives and the things that they are considering doing as they move into this part of their lives is always interesting and we are forever amazed at the choices that young people have today.
Applications have opened for our next cohort of school based trainees (SBATs) and we have had enormous success and interest in our Immersion program for this year so we are looking forward to meeting our applicants and moving them through the recruitment process throughout the next few months.
We also have some exciting components coming with professional development opportunities, including our leadership and mentoring program to support growth, knowledge and skill development of our current leaders and those looking towards a leadership role in the future.
We are always very keen to provide and support the professional learning of our educators and teams, and we welcome any suggestions and requests for professional development to come through to us. We have been working hard to develop the initial components of the St Nicholas Staff Conference being held in October and have some great external and internal speakers organised to inspire and promote the passion in our teams. We are looking forward to connecting and working alongside the conference committee to create an inspiring day.
Pathways is welcoming some new members to the team and we look forward to introducing you to them, and one of the favourite parts of the role is visiting you in the services and talking with the teams and the children and we are hoping to get out to see more of you as the year continues.
