Jaymayah Waters nominated at HESTA Early Childhood Education and Care Awards

Jaymayah Waters, an educator at St Nicholas Early Education Lochinvar, has been nominated at the HESTA Early Childhood Education and Care Awards in the ‘Individual Leadership’ category.

Reflecting on the nomination, Jaymayah shared, “I am very honoured and surprised to be nominated for the HESTA awards. I work alongside many amazing educators and to be recognised for my hard work is truly amazing, and I am just so grateful to be able to do a job that I love so much.”

The HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards recognise the front-line educators and carers at the very heart of Australia’s early childhood education system.

Jaymayah began her early childhood career as a trainee at St Nicholas Early Education Lochinvar, with her efforts earning her the award for Trainee of the Year at the NSW Training Awards in 2020. Since then, her career has continued to blossom. “I have been with St Nicholas Lochinvar for over 5 years now. Within those 5 years, I have achieved so much, and I owe that to myself as well as my loved ones,” she said. “I have always had a passion for working and supporting young children, and to be able to come to work and put little smiles on their faces and do what I love pushes me further for success within my career. What I’m striving for is yet to come; for now, I am just enjoying the path that I am on.”

As someone who has risen through the ranks from a trainee to leadership roles within the centre, Jaymayah offers this advice: “My advice to others is to always jump out of your comfort zone and to be kind to yourself. Child care isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, but it is the most rewarding thing to be a part of. Know what you want and go for it.”

Congratulations, Jaymayah!
